The law firm of MORRISS O’BRYANT COMPAGNI, P.C. (“MOC”) was founded in 1999 by partners Julie K. Morriss, David W. O’Bryant and Frank W. Compagni. Julie graduated from the University of Utah College of Law in 1990 and was the first female patent attorney in the state of Utah. David graduated from Seattle University School of Law and was a partner at a local area patent firm prior to co-founding MOC. Frank is a graduate of the University of Utah College of Law. Frank previously practiced as a senior associate with both Julie and David in their prior respective firms, which eventually lead to their joining together to form MORRISS O’BRYANT COMPAGNI, P.C.
JULIE K. MORRISS
Julie Morriss became the first woman patent attorney in the state of Utah in 1990 and has been in private practice since. As a Utah Patent attorney, Julie’s specializes in trademark and copyright protection along with patent preparation and prosecution. Ms. Morriss counsels clients in the areas of trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets and litigation of intellectual property.
DAVID W. O’BRYANT
With a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and experience in industry, David W. O’Bryant‘s patent expertise crosses many different engineering disciplines, but includes the diverse fields of computers, software design, networks, materials science, mass spectrometry and friction stir welding. Working as a Utah patent attorney David focuses on preparation of trademark, copyright, and patent applications in the computer, mechanical, electrical and software fields.
FRANK W. COMPAGNI
Frank W. Compagni had several years of extensive practical engineering experience before becoming a Utah patent attorney. Frank is a founding partner of M.O.C., and he specializes in preparation, prosecution, and enforcements of patents. Frank focuses on exploration technologies, computer hardware, underground mining equipment and more. He also has experience protecting and enforcing copyrights, trade secrets, and trademarks.
BRETTON L. CROCKETT
Brett has been in practice since 1999 after receiving a B.S. in Biology and Social Science from the University of Utah and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University. His practice includes intellectual property counseling, prosecution, and litigation. He has also taught trademark and other intellectual property law before.
